Internship Program

BME’s Industrial Internship Program provides opportunities for BME undergraduates to experience real-world problem solving in biomedical engineering, biotechnology, and medical device companies. Most students participate after their third year. They work full-time at the corporate site and are compensated $4,000, on average, for a ten-week summer internship. After the internship, students present on their summer’s work at a BME-sponsored event. We have placed 66 student interns since the program began in 2000.

Our corporate partners benefit from the engineering skills, current knowledge and leadership abilities of our students, as they identify new talent and potential future employees. Both corporate hosts and BME students report the internship is very productive and an excellent experiential educational opportunity.
