ABSTRACT
Cardiac disease, and in particular congestive heart failure and long QT syndrome, is one of the leading causes of death in the world. The discovery and development of more effective treatments for these diseases is a major unmet medical need in cardiovascular medicine. A novel approach for correction of electrical abnormalities associated with long-QT syndrome will be discussed. For this, a highly integrated paradigm combining molecular, cellular, in-vivo, and computational techniques was utilized. Furthermore, two novel approaches for chronic treatment of congestive heart failure and acute decompensated heart failure will be discussed.
