May 2008:

Congratulations to Dr. Caren Petrie Aronin on her successful Dissertation Defense on May 5! She accepted an offer from Rocky Tuan to postdoc at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, Cartilage Biology and Orthopaedics Branch, where she will start in August.

Dr. Botchwey presented the lab’s research in both oral and poster presentations at the World Congress for Biomaterials in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Leap Day was a banner day for Lauren Sefcik as she received both the Dissertation Year Fellowship, awarded by the University of Virginia Faculty Senate and an offer of an Assistant Professorship in Chemical Engineering at Lafayette College!!!! Look for her there starting July 1, 2009! Congrats to Lauren!

Congratulations to Peter Rios for competing in the technical paper competition for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers in Philadelphia, PA.

Congratulations to Kristen Wieghaus for her recent publication in Tissue Engineering along with BME collaborators Jason Papin and Erwin Gianchandani. The paper was selected by the journal's editors as an "Editor's top pick - hot paper."

Congratulations to Dr. Botchwey, who as a co-PI was awarded a research grant from the Emerging Frontier’s in Research and Innovation (EFRI) program of the National Science Foundation.
