BME Capstone Design

BME Capstone Design, a course required for all BME majors, culminates 3 years of experiences in the undergraduate curriculum and requires 4th-year students to select, formulate, and solve biomedical engineering design problems. Student teams work on their design projects for two consecutive semesters under the guidance of a faculty or industry advisor.

Drawing on their conceptual design skills, knowledge obtained in the integrated BME laboratory and lecture courses, and literature and prior art reviews, students develop and verify a working medical device prototype, a computational model, or an experimental data set. The end product represents the student's very best work and demonstrates to peers, faculty, and future employers that they are qualified biomedical engineers, prepared to enter the work force and make a difference in our discipline.
